Be very careful! They seem wonderful with all of their payment plans, no interest, etc...however, they give you one year to finish each semester and you could take 33 months per semester to pay it off, yet they neglect to tell you that you do not recieve your degree until every penny is paid off.

They make it seem great and wonderful, like you are paying installments to a loan, but that is not the case.

They do not take finacial aid or grant money. So if you have over $6,000 to spend right now...go somewhere else!

Something for nothing. SMDH. Penn Foster is not in the welfare business, and their AA/AS degrees do not cost $6,000.

I don't understand why people are getting upset over penn foster not giving you your degree before you give them all their money!! No other college in this world would give you your degree first, and then ask for payment later. People need to get their heads out of their *** and realize they are being ridiculous.

Guest

Hmmm, when I read the information on the website, it clearly states the fact that I won't get my degree until I pay for the course in full. I also spoke with a rep, and she also told me the same.

so if penn foster is so terrible, i'd like opinions on some better online schools and if you know of their prices for medical coding and billing programs? :}

Most complaints seem to be focused on the customer's inability to pay and their feeling that the school needs to solve that problem for them. What a joke! Like any other school, Penn Foster is a company that's offering a service/product in exchange for money. You can't find a single private school, college, university, trade school, or professional school that doesn't behave similarly. I hear similar complaints about online universities, commercial colleges, etc. This is all garbage coming from the people who fail to educate themselves in the facts.

Bottom line is: Schools cost money. Education is a major debt not just for people like the complaining poster, but for college students, nursing students, dental students, med students, law students, etc. Don't complain about the money, complain if the school is not teaching you what they said they'd teach you. If you're not that bright, that's not their fault either.

My opinion: Penn Foster, as with most of these correspondence schools, are educational institutions that offer you knowledge in exchange for money. If you want a free education, go to a community college.

:grin im a current PF high school student i have to say that the only complaint i have of this online school is the amount of time they take to send each course other than that i have no complaints. of course this school wont give you a degree until all payments are made im sure others school go by the same policy. if this school was so bad why would the BBB give this school a "A"??

common sense is of the most importance.it is obvious that once payment to a school was not payed in full, and that time comes when you have completed your course this could couse a hinderance on you recieving your degree/diploma or certificate.i am currently enrolled with pennfoster career school in the paralegal diploma program and up until this day i am proud and anxious to experiment with my knowlege and skills that i have so far inherit as a result of pennfoster,as a supplment of what i already knew.yes pennfoster is a great school thieir method of teaching is a plus, their student service center another plus, and may i say i have so far recieved no additional fee on my stipulated monthly course installment except for late payment on my behalf.AS AN INTERNATIONAL STUDENT FROM THE CARIBBEAN PENNFOSTER CAREER SCHOOL IS GREAT.ACCREDITED YES.AND A POSSIBILITY OF SEEING ME IN THE FUTURE AS A REOCCURRENT STUDENT IS DEFINITELY NOT A DOUDT.CONTINUE SHARING THE GREATNESS OF INDEPENDANT EDUCATION HOLDING OUR HANDS EVERY STEP WE CLIMB EACH DAY TO SUCCESS.

I have been enrolled in Penn Foster's Associate's Degree for Paralegal for about 3 months now. I have to agree with the positive feed back, and also make is perfectly clear I do not work for Penn Foster in any shape or form.

I have always recieved my shipments in a timely fashion, and those who have not need to remeber that they are available online to print out if you want them sooner. As for not knowing about the increase in tuition (which is true) or the fact that they must be paid in full before you get you degree, these are questions I personally asked and nobody at Penn Foster gave me the run around about it. Some things are common sense, but others, you need to come out and ask to avoid feeling ripped off later.

I would recommend Penn Foster because I have had no problems with them. My payments were always processed timely and the 800 number is available like 24/7 so I don't understand why some couldn't contact them?...Anyone who needs the oppertunity to get an education, but doesn't have the immidiate money or credit, should look at this school as a way for sucess.

I am currently taking Penn foster's Freelance Writing course and I must say that I enjoy it. I believe this school is much better than At Home Professions aka US Career Institute because they are much cheaper compare to AHP and unlike AHP, they do not automatically take any money out of my account unless I contacted them by email, internet or phone for them to do that.

But AHP keep taking money right out of my account which because of them, I kept getting deeper into debt. Avoid AHP but Penn Foster seem to be great and way cheaper too with between $600-$700 for the whole course.

Ok I am a current student, almost done with first semester, and pink frog, your mislead! Going to penn foster is costing me 1300 1st semester, 1345 2nd and third, and a whopping 1500 the last!

Really? I was misinformed! I would never pay that for a *** school(that I am able to get all test answers for online) when I have like 75 real college credits.

Penn Foster deserves to be sued! they are a rip off

Guest

:roll like really you can't get your Diploma/Degree until you've finished paying!!!! seriously how dumb & people found this helpful? are you kidding me???!!

Guest

Just spoke to penn foster rep. Told him I wanted to wait until I got info in mail.

He did not get nasty or continue to try and enroll me. Complaints seem all financial and not about academics.

Like Penn Student said read. No college will give you your degree if you owe them money.

My question is with all these complaints against PF and the suspision of PF employees writing all the counter comments why does the BBB still give PF an A+ rating?

Guest

Also a positive comment posted by a Penn Foster insider in my opinion. Just checked this link and anyone else out there who is not a Penn Foster employee and is a real person looking for facts before signing with Penn Foster, to see first hand that this is organized counter complaints to put a positive spin or attack the original writer. Something just isn't right.

With people out of work, maybe this is one of those work at home jobs.

Does Penn Foster have paid people to counter negative post? Seriously, when you see this much counter post, it normally means that the person or organization is monitoring. I have noticed that one complaint and a bus load starts typing on how good the school is. The people at Penn Foster must have 24 hour counter negative teams.

They know that smart people research before jumping into something. Online schools are known for non-stop pressure for you to sign once they have your contact information. Also, many learn the hardway that it cost more than they thought when it was advertised they would have their degree in 12 short months, but neglect to state the additional cost for the additional semesters.

Does not sound much further than a degree mill.

I don't believe any of these positive posts, because people who don't have complaints would not be on this website seeing what people have written about Penn Foster.

This must be Penn Foster Asset Protection Team or something.

I have received an Associates in Arts Degree in Business at a community college.

I am interested in signing up at Penn Foster for a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management. My only concern is if their degree will be accredited at the government jobs I want to apply at.

I think it's worth a shot. You have one class at a time that you can do on your own time. Payments options are cheap and I believe the total tuition cost is very affordable. There is no way I could afford to pay and travel to a university in my area.

I'll follow up and let you know how I'm doing at Penn Foster!

Ok I have been reading these negative comments about a school that has offered me and so many others the opportunity to obtain a degree when we for some reason or another can't go to a community college and it is really p***ing me off. Read EVERYTHING before you sign ANYTHING.

I mean really, everything I have seen on this site is something that could have been avoided if only you read everything. All I can say is WOW.

Guest

Amen to everyones positive comments. Its a common sense questions here. Come on people, have we been dumbed or what?

PennFoster is the most affordable and best laid out education program there is. The BS degree is less than $1500, the price of ONE CLASS from many major universities.
