| 1. Written by Angel, on 30-07-2009 02:56 Well, as far as I can see, they are just as accredited as all the rest of the online colleges and universities. They probably do not have as good of credit transferability as harvard etc, but they are equal to Ashford, University of pheonix, Kaplan, etc. and all the rest of those charge a ton, and you'll have to pay in full or get student loans which really do rip you off with all that interest. I am currently with Kaplan, and about to transfer. It takes 90 something credits for an Computer IT associates degree with Kaplan and cost 25,000.00 plus interest. I still have 30 credit to go and my student loan payoff amount is already up to 28,000.00. Now that I have heard of Penn foster, I wish I would enrolled with them first. So anyway, I just got blocked out of my current term because I of charges that for some wiered reason did not get taken care of by financial aid. So I am expected to pay 700.00 something in full or get another loan before I could even get back into my course and term. So now with considering Penn this same degree cost a total of 5,000.00 something... They will only accept 50% credit transfer, and that means that I will only be able to get 31 credits transfered of the 60 something I already got with Kaplan, but I will save thousands and will not have to do anymore discussion boards. I would rather read my text books and have the quality time to spend with my children verses having to post to dreadful discussion boards. I hear some people like them, but I would rather just read, and study for the test. This is Penn Foster. Oh and to me Discussion boards are a waste of my time, because I feel I just have to think of something, to make something to say about nothing, and believe me I got good at it. But like I said I have much better things to do with my time. Nevertheless some people might need that social aspect, but it only gave me a lowergrade when I did not do them, and that bites. I did great and got A's on all my project, assignments and test, but I would get late penalties for everthing even discusions, but I understood my coursework, never need instructors help, just needed really work at my own pace. There were hardships that hit simultaneously, and there were several times that things just snowballed, leaving me not adequately able really apply my self to all the deadlines, Daily and weekly. With Penn Foster you have 12 months to finish a semesters work, and most finish with in a couple of months. I think that is very adequate. Oh and you can test out on a lot and get through sooner if you already know the subject well, and at no extra charge. So now my biggest question is who all can I transfer credits to once I get my Associates with PENN? |
2. Written by mushupudge, on 23-07-2009 17:37 I am unsure If I want to start at Penn Foster. I did talk to someone about vet tech program. He was very helpful and said after each semester you must go to a location for hands on evaluation. That sounds about right, but then he was VERY pushy about starting up NOW. He kept asking for a credit card and when I told him I need to talk to my husband first he laughed and said NO YOU DON'T. I really want to start an online education but now I am really afraid to sign with them. Are they for real? I would hate to lose $1300. |
| 3. Written by vroses, on 20-07-2009 04:14 From my own experience at Penn Foster, I had to do hands on work in the classroom this semester. Somebody on here said it the best that is your drive. This degree you get is to help get your foot in the door but you have to do the work. Your resume and cover letter have to sell you. Good Luck! |
| 4. Written by Joshua, on 16-04-2009 22:01 The comment from Epayne "If you think you can learn fitness online or out of a book then you need to think again fitness comes from doing not reading." What an ignorant thing for you to sit there and say publicly on a site like this, Epayne. So I guess for the people going to school world wide to learn through reading books is a waste of their time? Because (coming from what you've said above here) that it comes from doing it and not reading about it. Did you even give yourself time to think before you say something?- I guess not! |
