I am a Penn Foster Sales Employee. Yes, I said sales, NOT admissions rep or anything like that.

I am going to tell you exactly how it works there, plus i will answer any questions after. You call after seeing our website or tv ad. We know how you saw it because they all have different phone numbers and come up on the display when you call.

We take your name and age, Then, have to get your marketing, IE: address and number or we cannot go any further. We give you a brief explanation of the program you want and move right into payment.

The sales methodology is simple.

Give as little info as possible, go straight for sale. We have sales conversion numbers we either meet or get fired. We hire an avg of 120 people a year. About 5 people make it a year without getting fired.

Most of the sales reps you talk to have only been working a few months and are fighting for their jobs. BE CAREFUL. If you dont enroll, that sales person is in line for a write-up. We greet you, qualify, get marketing, give little info, be assumptive that you will enroll, then rebutt any objections.

The whole "GIANT" operation takes place in the same small building. Plus Connie Dempsey, lol, doesnt exist.

Location: Scranton, Pennsylvania

That's just like being any other sales associate, if your not making quota why keep you around. The 120 sales hire a year seems to steep. They obviously need a better program to train the sales associate.

Penn Foster is harassing my ex-boyfriend, saying he owes money because he signed up for their high school diploma program. My ex is 48 years old, graduated high school at 18 and has a degree from Georgia Tech! WTF?!

I have been going to Penn Foster for some time and I love it, I never experienced any of this *** this so called employee is talking about! Even in the beginning they didn't pressure me to get anything, they answered all my questions, sent me brochures in the mail, they didn't even ask me about money until I finally called and said I wanted to enroll, this was after I had spoken with them multiple time before. I honestly believe some people have bad experiences and are quick to blame it on someone else.

THANK YOU!!! I have enrolled in Penn Foster and I am excited that I did.

I wanted a certificate in the medical billing and coding program and chose this school. The payments for the course was right for me and the length of time to get certified was and is also great for me. I am sure other people have had bad business experiences with this school but as for me (so far) I have not had any. .

.I will keep you posted. :)

Why would you expect to experience what the OP is writing about? She is speaking from the POV of an employee and you are a student.

Obviously, you would see two different sides to this organization.

A lot of these type schools are in the media as of late, because they are being shut down for scamming students, i.e. Everest.

Two of my boys graduated Penn Foster and did well. My grandson started but was unable to finesh. We had no problem getting at least part of our money back which I feel was fair.

I signed up for a course with Penn Foster and I wasn't able to do the course. I called Penn Foster and they refunded several months of my monthly payment without question.

It showed up in my account within days. There has to be more to the stories of people having to pay even though they withdrew. I am getting ready to go back to school and I am researching schools and reviews.

Right now Penn Foster is the school I am considering.

I graduated from Penn Foster and earned my Diploma as a Veterinary Assistant and it changed my life! The Vet hospitals I applied at, all recognized my diploma as coming from an honorable, accredited and qualified institution!

I am now an independent woman with an honest career. It was a dream come true literally for me. My daughter earned her diploma as a Pharmacy Technician and got the same results.

Unlimited career potential and her life is amazing! I am not sure why there are problems for some here, but I think they man need to research things a little further before slandering an accredited school.

:) :grin

this is school lie. they are not accredited by the department of education or the state of California.

i lose my job as an teacher aide in a preschool because when i applied for my teacher permit/credential in Sacramento. they denied my petition, i spoke directly to an assesor for the teachers credential and they told me that pen foster is a scam.

i am the only provider for my mom who is in wheelchair, and now without a job and in debt."God will punish Penn foster for ruining peoples lives" :cry

Funny, I called several colleges in my area and they all honor Penn Foster.

Maybe you should have checked locally before you enrolled.

to the fedupemployee: if you are in sales you should know that every sales rep has a quota to hit and if they dont, they all get written up and eventually fired. so dont try to scare people who signing up at the school to better their future. maybe you should take a class or two because you seem unhappy with your job and maybe you need to find something else to do with your time.

I have nothing bad to say, been through this school twice now and I love the training material. Two different subjects and plan to take a third...

Two thumbs up for this school. Thank You, Doss :)

I am thinking about taking the forestry/wildlife class at Penn Foster while I am working on my BS in Environmental Science here at a local college. Figured it would look good on a application having a extra course.

Its low cost and I can have it done within 6 months (hopefully). Just curious has anyone else here taken this course or had any issues with the class?

Our initial experience was great with Penn Foster. My oldest son completed high school through PF, obtained his 4 yr degree from a well known christian university and is now pastoring a church.

My next son also completed high school and has a full time job.

My wife and I decided to enroll for a class for ourselves. We had always been on a month to month basis with PF. We paid at least the first month. After enrolled, we could not finish due to our schedules.

I never received any books and called to cancel my class and she did the same. We were turned over to a collection agency for a total of $1200.00 for both classes. A writing class and a transcription class. I never signed anything nor signed up for anything other than month to month classes.

We have been so confused over this. It has hurt our credit and no one seems to care. The school would do nothing to get rid of this. If we had finished or even completed the first tests I could see some charge, but not for the complete program.

Is this right?

Has anyone else had this situation? What can be done?
